The enthusiasm that surrounds the initiation activity attests to the widely held opinion that the initiation provides for the continuity of the fraternity. It comes as no wonder then that the fraternity house is the hub of activity at this time. The enthusiasm bespeaks of the human preoccupation in us with the preoccupation of our particular kind.

The dynamism of the fraternity is best seen at initiation time.

For some, the initiations are also the standards of the machismo brotherhood is usually associated with. Others, still, look at the rites as reminders of a personal triumph over the odds of human frailty and limitations in the pursuit of what is Good, Beautiful and Ethereal in life.

In all honesty, however, we admit that there is more to initiations than the traditional Noble Gamman Path and the Passage to Nobility which we set before the prospective members. There is more that brothers are in to during the initiations than to safeguard the traditions in the challenge of endurance or the test of sincerity.

We will be quick to point out, too, that the more diverse the views are, more will they miss the essence of the initiation process from the initiators’ side.

The initiation is a time for retrospection. Every initiation affords the initiator a trip down memory lane.

Every generation of new brothers pushes us farther from the night of our own rites. And if not for initiations,who will remind us of the ideals that we swore to live by.

Much as in another sense, we see the initiations to give momentum to the fraternity, we allow ourselves a moment respite to recall the very ideals that steeled us in the face of pain and fear.

And for this, we are thankful to the initiation process for the constant reminder.
